php 5.2系で APC (Alternative PHP Cache) をインストールする

APCをインストール

1. APCに必要なパッケージを確認します。
   
   1. php5.2系の必要なパッケージをインストールする。
      

      php5.2系のphp-develとphp-pearが必要です。
      必要なパッケージが既にインストールされているか確認します。
      

      $ rpm -qa | grep php | grep devel php52-devel-5.2.13-3.ius.el5 $ rpm -qa | grep php | grep pear php52-pear-1.8.1-2.ius.el5

      こんな感じでインストールされていれば良いですが、インストールされていない場合は、以下のようにインストール行います。
      

      
      

      CentOS 5

      $ yum -y install php52-devel php52-pear

      CentOS 6 Scientific Linux 6

      $ yum -y install php-devel-5.2.17 php-pear

      
      
   2. apacheの必要なパッケージをインストールする。
      

      apacheのhttpd-develが必要です。
      必要なパッケージが既にインストールされているか確認します。
      

      $ rpm -qa | grep httpd-devel httpd-devel-2.2.3-43.el5.centos

      こんな感じでインストールされていれば良いですが、インストールされていない場合は、以下のようにインストール行います。
      

      $ yum -y install httpd-devel

      
      
   3. gccコンパイラをパッケージをインストールする。
      

      gccのgccとgcc-c++が必要です。
      必要なパッケージが既にインストールされているか確認します。
      

      $ rpm -qa | grep gcc libgcc-4.1.2-48.el5 libgcc-4.1.2-48.el5 gcc-4.1.2-48.el5 gcc-c++-4.1.2-48.el5

      こんな感じでインストールされていれば良いですが、インストールされていない場合は、以下のようにインストール行います。
      

      $ yum -y install gcc gcc-c++

      
      
   
   
2. APCをインストールします。
   

   APCは、phpのpeclを使います。
   一応、以前のバージョン 3.0.19 をインストールした時の様子と、最新の3.1.9をインストールした時の様子を記載しておきます。
   多少、問い合わせ内容が異なる程度です。いずれもデフォルトの回答でOKなので、入力はEnterのみです。

   以上で、インストール完了です。
   

   CentOS 6 Scientific Linux 6 では、www.atomicorp.com のリポジトリを使用して
   ・php-pecl-apc-3.1.10-2.el6.art.xxx.rpm
   ・php-pecl-apc-3.1.9-3.el6.art.xxx.rpm
   と２つのパッケージが用意されています。ただし、上記のいずれも php 5.3 系に依存しており、そのままインストールする場合は、php 5.2 系が php 5.3 系へ自動的にアップグレードしてしまうので注意が必要です。
   
   

格安の共有レンタルサーバーでは、このAPCを もし、インストールできたとしても、ほとんど意味がありません。
APCは、メモリ上にコンパイル済みphpバイナリデータを保持しようとします。 それは、格安の共有レンタルサーバーで、ユーザ個別のメモリ空間を保持しようとすることになりますから、 みんなで使う共有のリソース（メモリ）を独占しようとすることと同じことになります。

そんなことを許してくれる共有サーバーはないでしょう。
だから、コンパイル済みphpバイナリデータを書き込むためのメモリを確保できない → 意味がない・・・ということなんですね。

しかし、VPS、専用サーバー、自宅サーバーなら話は違います。
（このあたりが、VPS、専用サーバー、自宅サーバーのおいしいところで）いずれのサーバーも、サーバーのリソース（メモリを含む）は、専有しているのですから、すべての権限は自分で決めれます。 メモリに余裕があれば、思う存分APCの効果を試せます。
